hey guys , how often do i need ot use onyx

i leave my macbook pro on all night, not sleeping , just on,
so i assume the scrips are running

do i need to use onyx at all ?

if i do how often?

thanks

cool is so i dont need any cleaing utility?

depend on your use (i mean day use; installing programs, downloading, surfing the net, etc. Also whenever you notice your system is slowing down, or programs are not responding. Personally i do permission repair and use onyx every month at the least or whenever i reshuffle my system in term of programs and major updates.

um you dont NEED it. but when you have a backlog of cache in a program, or want to customize a few more things for performance - Onyx is great (as is tinkertool)

more of a one time use tool, then clean every month... i don't want the favicon from a website+a thumbnail stored in my history forever... not that this is the case but for the most part cache can build up like engine gunk

you won't run into any errors if you don't use it - but you can make certain things 'snappier' if you do - and use it right

I only use it when I'm noticing major memory problems on my Mac.

Other than that, I hardly ever do maintenance on my Mac ;)

Thanks,
Mason

Sleep your Mac and stop wasting power. There is no reason to leave it running, that's just irresponsible.

I run Onyx about twice or thrice a year, and the biggest thing that seems to speed the system up (just a wee bit... it never really slows down, actually) is reindexing Spotlight.

Also, I repair my permissions in the Disk Utility once in the odd blue moon, and that seems to make a difference some also.

You don't need to run the app - it certainly won't hurt it if you do (less you go overboard ... I think), but it's not mandatory.
