I just checked coconut battery and it shows me my brand new,
two days old MBP is really 5 weeks old!
I found it quite funny... Who has the oldest MBP around here?
We can see how early before the announcement Apple starts producing
those toys.

I think this application checks the serial # of the computer though...
Might be wrong....

You mean like a manufacturer's build date? That would make sense as most manufacturers will take some weeks to go through a build / test / packaging / wharehouse process.

Sure why can't it be that old. I mean, the battery in the current line of mbp's is the same as the C2D-series (I guess, didn't check it), so it makes sense.
Sony manufactures the batteries, and apple puts them in their computers afterwards. It doesn't mean the SR notebooks are already 5 weeks old.

CoconutBattery checks the serial number of your computer against a database, or it reads off the build date found inside the laptop itself. It DOES not check the age of your mac via battery.

Really? Well, then they really are already 5 weeks old I guess :)
It also explains why we don't have to wait weeks to get a shiny new MBP in our hands.

It's not like Apple somehow magically manufactured all of them the day they were announced. They had to stockpile a bunch so they could be available when they made their announcement.
