I have an iMac 2017 (base model) and I was wondering if the Mac Mini M1 base model) is as powerful as that. Of the Intel Macs, what is the equivalent the Mac Mini would be?

I know the first thing that’ll be said is “it depends on what you use it for”, but I’m asking in general terms. It can be from “casual browsing” to “intensive Photoshop”. I’m wondering if I should hold on to my iMac or get another type of Mac. Thanks.

Same here, but experience on the M1 Mac mini is superb and no regrets. My daily use includes the MS Office suite including teams and Adobe Lightroom and VLC. No regret whatsoever and very stable experience with no heat, fan or unexpected restarts. The stunning stat is that even with the base config with 8gb ram, there has been no performance issues at all.

It is certainly more powerful than your iMac.

Have it for a week and I still haven’t heard the fan ramping up
My 2014 iMac turn up the fan after 15 mins of watching nba league pass

It's more powerful then my i7 Mac mini in almost all cases. (EGPU puts it over the top in davinci resolve but that's the only case so far)
