never bought an official Apple case, I always felt like they looked too thin and wouldn’t really protect my phone against drops. I don’t drop my phone all the time or anything , but things happen sometimes and I’ve dropped past phone on concrete before.

The Apple cases definitely do have an aesthetically pleasing look to them.

I’m using a tech 21 ego tactical currently and i really like it, but sometime down the road , I may consider giving the Apple cases a shot. What do you guys think about the protection for them?

I use them and have since the launch of the 6; never had to send in a phone for repair for physical damage. They work well, anecdotally.
Got a silicone one on my X (with a screen protector) and fully expect it to do the job. I prefer the silicone to the leather.

I see , may have to go with one sometime down the road. I like the minimalistic look of them

The fit is impeccable - there’s nothing better from that perspective. Part of the reason I like the silicone is that it looks and feels like part of the phone.

I’ll agree with you on that for sure. What makes you prefer the silicone over leather though ? Just curious. I remember hearing the silicone attracts a lot of pocket lint

I prefer the leather over silicone. Silicone has better grip out of the box but it attracts lint and is difficult to place in pockets at times.

I’m using my first Apple silicone case & for me, the lint isn’t as bad as what I heard & initially thought.

It’s not really an issue (at least for me)

I have an apple leather case and my phone (7) has taken at least 3 tumbles from my hand to the pavement. The leather has a few indentations now, but has successfully protected my phone

Well worth the $50. Been using them since the 5 and protection is good. The bottom is exposed but easily manageable if you're aware of how you place your phone. If i put my phone in my car cupholder, i put the topside down first since that edge is protected. Fitment is excellent and if the button cutout has issues, you can easily exchange at the store until you get a good one.

I’ve been using a Cobalt Blue silicone case and it’s been perfect. I returned my Saddle Brown leather case after a day of using each. I’ve already had the Saddle Brown on my 6S and 7 this is my first silicone case. Hoping to cop another color on Black Friday.

Perfect case in my opinion
It’s not thick, feels and looks great. More importantly it protects the phone very well. Drop my phone in several occasions and it’s still all good.

iPhone X?

I’m a big fan of the Apple leather cases.

I’ve used them for years, without any breakages, and quite a few drops. Touch wood!

For those who have an apple leather case, is the front lip uniform all the way around the phone?

I just noticed that on mine that the lip on the bottom towards is marginally smaller than what is on top.

I am wondering that my skin on the black glass is causing this.

Can someone confirm please?

I have crazy OCD and is usually really careful but I accidentally dropped my X onto the mall's floor when I was trying to put it in my back pocket. Went screen flat on the floor with the leather case and screen protector. No damage (just a single ding on the screen protector's edge). However, I do see that the seam of the screen to the stainless steel edge has some white imperfections when I shine light on it, but I don't think this is related to the drop since it feels silky smooth when I run my hand over it.

I bought 3 Product red cases before I got one without blemishes. I bought 2 black and both had blemishes. Mostly it looks like poor application of adhesives. The leather case also have no protection on the bottom.

I have had a mix of the leather and silicone cases and prefer the silicon over the leather for everyday use. Its not a sticky silicon like most cheap cases are made from and does not stick to your pocket but still grippy. The Leather cases wear like crap and end up looking terrible also can get very slick. Both offer great protection. I do wish the silicone had the metal buttons like the leather ones do.

People call they wear “patina” and like it! :)

I’m not crazy about the feel of the silicone and the leather ones are too slippery. Neither covers the bottom though which is a dealbreaker. No bottom coverage on a phone like this? No thanks.
