I want to recover some hard drive space on a macbook. Is there a way to remove the unwanted languages and printer drivers from OS X without re-installing from scratch?

I found this tool
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7758

that will remove the un-wanted languages. Any ideas for printers?

Thanks so much.

Will removing extra printer drivers recover much disk space?

Make sure when using Monolingual that you don't delete the Architectures that your Macbook will need to run PowerPC apps under emulation.

I figured I just keep to the languages tab and uncheck the languages I don't need and don't touch the other tabs. That should be safe right?

I have a question. Will it still screw up the computer if a person doesn't use PPC only apps on an Intel mac?
I have a PPC Mac and I used monolingual to remove all the Intel code from Universal Apps, will that damage my computer in any way?

You should be safe...the earlier versions of Monolingual didn't have them on a separate tab...so good to see they've made it harder to mess up.

I think you're safe...I haven't heard of that causing problems. Obviously if you start having problems with any particular app, you might want to note that if you create a thread about it on here. BTW, How much space did that save you?

Thanks!

Wish there was an easy way to remove unwanted printers as well! The other stuff is too complicated to be worth it :)

I just used monolingual, then deleted my entire printers folder contents (just the brand-name directories for specific model printers) then reinstalled my epson and HP drivers and tested everything works great.

Before: 89.03GB free
After: 93.11GB free

So, I released 4.08GB just in dead weight.

I'm not sure, but my MacBook even FEELS lighter ;)
