Would they catch me? I'm on the 3GB plan.

If you are on the 3GB plan, the worst that would happen is they'd throw you on the tethering plan, which you could just drop for the 3GB plan anyway.

Yes, but I think they also give you a warning first and if you do it again they switch you to a tethering package.

Right, the point is he has nothing to lose. They swap you to the tethering package, you switch back. At worst, you will be prorated the day you were on the tethering package. IMO the only people that have anything to lose in a scenario like this one are those who are currently on an unlimited data plan.

I'm also on the 3gb plan and have been using tetherme for a couple of weeks. I limit my use of it to less than 10-15 minutes per stint and less than a few megabytes in total. I try to stay off the radar. But even if they do hit me, it's not that big of a hit.

I just think it is b.s. that I pay for 3gb of data use and AT&T dictates how I use it. If I want to use my phone to share the data, that should be my perogative. Either way, the phone is using the data!

Exactly.
3GB's of data is 3GB's of data either way.

This has always confused me as well. Worst thing that will happen is you run over on you data and have to pay them more? Who is the victim here?

Only explanation there is the carrier is greedy and wants you to use as little of the data that you paid for as possible.
