Am a bit of a dummy when it comes to networking but got myself a speedtouch wireless router which my G5 imac found straight away as has built in airport. My question is will this network be safe and fi not how do I go about making sure only i can access it with my imac and ipod touch as have been sat downstairs and the router has been flashing away and my computer has just been sat in sleep mode, is this normal?

Any help really appreciated as had a look on the web and came up with very little for what I was after and always been a great help on this forum!

Taanks in advance

how do you go about doing that then, like I said am crap at network side of things!

Cheers

Read the instruction manual that came with your router. If you don't have it, look up how to set a secure wireless network on google or go to the web site of the manufacturer of your router.

Hey, can someone give me a rough idea of how long it would take a computer (or supercomputing node) to break MY security?

It's WPA2 Enterprise and the password is forty characters long, all letters, some spaces.

Seriously, NO ONE is getting past that.

I'm pretty sure that at our current rate of technological advancement, it will take more than 15 years for quantum computing to come into play.

Surely there must be odds that a computer, or human, could simply guess it right first time?

I guessed a locked WiFi signal in the pub a couple of weeks back first time while playing with a friends TouchPod:cool:... albeit only 5 characters long, but I didn't know that either.
