I usually get the middle model and try to upgrade more often. You can spend more money and get a high-end unit to try to get ahead of the curve but if you upgrade more often you get things like better screens, batteries and other improvements. When the i7 mobile is available the performance should be great so it might make sense to stay away from the high-end until the next upgrade cycle at least.
