Hi everyone,

I have a stainless steel series 0 Apple Watch which I've had from launch day.

However, I've started swimming and also want cellular so am hoping to upgrade to series 3. However, I refuse to pay the price for the stainelss steel model.

So can people who own the sport tell me how resistant the screen is to scratches? After 2 and a half years, my sapphire display has no scratches at all. I'm worried I'll buy the sport and it'll scratch easily. I also won't use a screen protector on a watch.

Thanks :)

how careful are you with your watch? i've had the ss and currently have the bss. no scratches at all and i use it on a daily basis with various sports activities. my wife has aluminum space gray and there are visible scratches on the screen. so from my experience, i would not get another watch that doesn't have sapphire glass.

I’ve had both-and the non-sapphire screen will get hairline scratches in no time. Would not go back to the lesser glass.

I've been using the Nike watch since januryish. I work a regular desk job, and wear it to work, while running, cycling and doing normal yard work. So far the screen looks like brand new. I do take it off if I do anything that could be hazardous to it, like construction, working on the car, etc.

I found the Ion-X Glass to be less scratch resistant more than I thought when I first owned it. I was not impressed with the durability, mainly with minor scratches. When I upgraded to the stainless model, the Sapphire display is almost impervious to scratches and I still do not have any on my stainless Apple Watch today. To me, the Sapphire display sells itself in the long run, especially for someone like myself who does not like having scratches visible on a 42 mm screen.
