I've tried to reserve an iPhone this entire week and have had no luck getting one. My closest apple store is the Durham, NC store. I've read about people who manage to reserve phones but I never even see any available. I'm trying to get a Verizon iPhone with 16 GB. I don't really care about color. Should I try one of my local verizon stores? I really don't want to order one because I don't want to wait that long.

What sort of answer do you expect to get from people here? Either your local retailers have them or they don't. How is ordering one going to involve a longer wait when your local stores are clearly waiting on orders themselves?
try calling apple, ask if they can do holiday shipping, be nice and see what they can do - also I heard you can go either at open or after 5/6 pm and try at store - make a Genius Bar appt for first one available and in notes write you want to buy new phone as you are having problems with your old one....def buy from apple!
