I have an older time capsule that I have my apple tv and a hard drive hooked up to, to run as a media server, however it is an older time capsule and I just moved and its not strong enough, so I plan to hook it up to a new non-apple wireless router.

Should I do modem---time capsule---new router
or modem---new router---time capsule.

Thanks!

Similar to what I have. The modem cables to the WAN port of the new TC. A new TC LAN port cables to the old TC's WAN port. The wife backs up to the new TC and I use the old one. This cascade gives us plenty of ethernet ports and two USB 2 ports (one on each TC) for connecting printers. Wifi is turned off in the old TC. The new Extreme extends the New TC's wifi network on the other end of the house.

doing it like that will my computer which will be connecting to the new router see the apple tv, which is connected to the old tc, which is now bridged to the new router?

Get a new TC and you will likely see better wifi. We did. They use the old TC either as a wifi extender....or just turn wifi off on the old TC.
