Hello!

I have heard that the superdrive sata cable is slower than the main hardrive sata cable on the macbook pro 13.

Is this true? what are the speeds of each cable please?

I am trying to decide if i should put the 500gb main drive into the superdrive space or a usb 3.0 external enclosure. Which is more common? Which will be faster?

SATA II(your laptop has SATA III) and USB 3 are faster than the drive.

Anyway, either option will work. When I upgraded my 250GB HDD to a SSD, I left the SuperDrive in my 13" MBP because I still use it occasionally. I'd probably go the external enclosure route.

Which ssd did you upgrade to and which size please?

Crucial M4 256GB. My read and write speeds are both limited by SATA II in my mid 2009 MBP.

I actually bought a Samsung 830 as well and put that into my wife's PC, simply because updating the firmware on a Mac is a pain.

I Keep hearing the samsung 830 is better so I have decided to get that.

Thanks for the other advice too guys.
