How solid is AT&T with their shipping dates?

I ordered a black 16GB iPhone 5 on 10/01/12 from an AT&T store to be shipped to my residency. I was told it would ship in 2-3 weeks. How solid are they with their shipping estimates? Is there a chance it would be pushed back even more? I'd like to have the phone by the first week in November.
