I am wondering about how many days after the offical launch could you walk into a atat store, or an apple store and buy the iPhone. we were thinking about going the following wednesday. But i am just curious with past experiances.

thanks

I'm assuming, that same day; they should have more than enough 3G iPhones and employees to take your money.

I went to my local Apple Store at 10pm last year on launch day and there were only 3 people ahead of me in line. I was in and out in less than 4 minutes.

This year, idk, the price might be realllly appealing to people and the fact that it might require in store activation might mean trouble for the first day. But after the first day things shouldn't be as bad.

I think some big stores might sell out on launch day. I might go in the morning and camp out in line (can work from my laptop anyway so why not :)

If you get in line on launch day (July 11th) then you should be fine, but if you walk in later in that day and if it is typically a busier store, then you might be out of luck that day. But if you go the next day when they open, then you should be fine. I would expect Apple to use the online tool to determine store availability for the next day again, and if you do plan on using this on a day after opening, then arrive at opening so you won't be disappointed. But in my opinion, wait until the 12th or 13th (the 13th would be ideal), just so you don't have to deal with the lines (by the 12th the lines should be fine, by the 13th the lines should be non-existent). Hope this helps.

anyone know what evidence apple/ATT expects to prove myself as a current iphone user? I won't have my iPhone on-hand so I'm hoping they can look through my account or something....I should probably go to an AT&T store as well, right?

Just bring your iPhone with you, but it shouldn't be a problem anyways.
