How tether iPad to Droid or iPhone

How can I do this either on my Droid Bionic or if I purchase an iPhone? I have the unlimited Verizon Data Plan.
 
I'd recommend using an android forum to root your droid, each phone has different steps to root/jailbrake.
 
Thanks but what about on iPhone? I'm thinking of going that way anyway...
