iPod touch How the hell does Game Center work?!

I keep playing games that support Game Center, complete them and Game Center says I have no achievements. I recently completed Save Toshi, Game Center shows that I've got some achievements that you can only get by completing the game but not the ones you get to completing it.

How do you get Game Center to sync your achievements?

1. sign into game center
2. play game
3. some games need you to select "game center" option
