My daughters phone has been dying. Previous water damage... and as time goes by it got worse. Today it became unusable.

She needs to type in her passcode so I can back it up. But the touchscreen isn’t working. Any tips? Can the Genius Bar help? It’s an iPhone 6 long ago paid for (receipts gone). But we can prove it’s Apple username and password.

Goal is to back it up so she doesn’t lose everything in a new phone.

Was it already setup to back up to iCloud? Does your daughter have more than the free 5GB of iCloud? If yes, chances are, it is already backing up the iCloud.

Apple does not want your Apple ID name and password to access the iPhone data.
I doubt it, but Genius Bar May attach a screen temporarily to your iPhone, allowing you to type the passcode, and then detach that screen. I would find an individual repair shop if I were you though.

This the phone is out of warranty and water damaged. I don’t think you’ll get much help at the Apple store.

You need a lightning to USB camera adapter. This will allow you to attach a USB keyboard to the lightning port to unlock the phone.
If the phone was dying for a while, why wait until it is dead before making a backup??
