What are you asking, exactly? You cannot use GMail to access your iCloud e-mail account unless you forward it to your GMail account. They are two separate mail services.
Very strange. For well over 2 years until about late November, I had my gmail set to fetch my mac mail automatically and label it in gmail accordingly.
I then noticed I hand't received any .mac mail in gmail for a few days and, when going into my gmail settings, saw it hadn't fetched mac mail for 8 days.
When I tried to delete the account and re-add it, all I get is a message notifying me that 'there was a problem connecting to mail.mac.com' ....
I'm thinking, reading some of the stuff I've found when googling the answer to my problems that you can add POP accounts to gmail but .mac is IMAP (whatever that means) .... but how come it worked for ages then suddenly stopped?
Forwarding from mac mail is all very well but sometimes the format of the messages changes and you get a '>' at the start of every line.
I'm a tad frustrated at this backwards move - can anyone shed any light?
