1. With the iPad turned off, remove the Apple nano sim

2. Replace the Apple sim with a Verizon nano sim

3. Using iTunes, Restore the iPad (Note: restore the device itself, not a previous backup of apps, music, pics, etc.)

4. When the Restore is complete, the iPad should recognize a Verizon signal

5. Call Verizon Customer Service or go online and activate an iPad data plan (line of service)

6. Enjoy your new iPad Air 2!

Note: this will work with a Verizon nano sim used in a previous iPad Air just as well as a new one

Think this will also work if I have a 2 year contract with verizon. With an iPad air? Just switch the sim over and do what you said and it should auto update on the account showing it's the Air 2 now?

Why do you have to restore? Can't you just pop in the sim from a previous Verizon iPad and turn it on?

Update: I can confirm no restore is necessary. I just popped my Verizon sim from my other iPad into iPad Air 2 and it works great. Didn't even have to restart.

Put the Apple sim away for a rainy day, I guess.
