How to Activate new iPhone

Hello

So long story short, I am on ATT and was not eligible to upgrade when pre-orders started. I called customer service, and they said just to order under a number that was eligible. However, I am not 100% sure how to get service to my new phone under my new number now. Do I just go into settings and type in my phone number there? Thanks!
