Hi,

I tried to add the gmail to mail.app but it automatically adds the gmail as imap without letting me to specify the protocol. Any chance I can add Gmail with pop3 to the mail.app?

Thanks.

I just ran into this too. I ended up creating a fake account with a non-gmail domain, then changing the settings to my gmail account.

To set up a Gmail account in Mail as POP3:

  1. Fill in your Name, E-mail Address, and Password.
  2. Hold down the "Option" key.
  3. The "Create" button will change to "Continue", click it.
  4. Set your incoming mail server as pop.gmail.com.
  5. Hold down the "Option" key again and press "Continue".
  6. Complete the rest of the steps in the account creation wizard.
Occasionally, you may notice that the incoming server port is still set to 993 (which is the IMAP server port). If this happens to you, go into Mail's Preferences and change the port to 995 for your Gmail account.

Hope that helps, have a great day! :)

Can you possibly explain what the benefit of this is? I just am not aware.
Thanks

I need this because my gmail account was hacked and I want to back up the messages before I delete them off the Gcloud
