How to add loops to Garageband?

I have some extra loops and sound effects that I wanted to be able to access from Garage band but they don't show up in the list of available audio content.
How do you get them to show up in Garage band? Do they have to be in some special folder?
I can navigate to them when using Soundtrack pro by finding their folder on the hard drive, but there doesn't seem to be any way to search the hard drive with Garage band.
Thanks for any advice.
