I been a runner for a while, now I only do it once in a while especially when I move my jaws more than my feet... today I took a short run and used my son's ex AppleWatch Series4 with the Nike+ app rather than my iPhone and can tell, as well as it happened back in time when my son was using it, that the thing is very generous with speed and mileage, was wondering if there's a way to calibrate and to make it sharper at tracking

Grazie

Oh well, at least for a tiny bit I did believe being again a runner... after reading this I can barely find a utility for this thing but thanks anyway for your reply

Yes but he said he took the watch rather than the phone.

To be pedantic, he said "used". I interpreted that as "I usually use the phone to track my runs, but instead used the watch". But using the watch while carrying the phone (wifi model, for example) would use the Phone GPS vs the Watch GPS.

This article shows that the GPS on the S4 is pretty accurate, but the OP is saying that anecdotally his is way off.

All the same, you could be right, I just interpreted it differently. :)

I left the phone home and only used the watch, I can tell for sure that it was at least a 10% too generous, no big deal, at least I can listen to music and have an idea and keep track on the Nike+ app, for sure if I had to train to get ready for a race I'd use a dedicated tracker otherwise I'll crash way way before finish line 😂

I run 10km six times a week using several tracks and accuracy day in day out has been very reliable. The kms click in at the same locations on the runs and that has been consistent with AW 4-8. However, my Ultra clicks in the km intervals slightly earlier.

As far as I’m concerned, the km click in consistently and that’s all I require and I then check the run data each day and make comparisons and monitor trends and in turn relate that to my fitness. I don’t run races.
