Ok, my inlaws just added me to there phone plan. they have unlimited internet on there plan but its not the iphone verson, so when i pop my sim card into my iPhone the internet doesnt work. is there a way to get around this little inconvenience by jail breaking or anything other method.

Nope, you'll either have to pay for the full data plan or just use WiFi only.
 
i dont see how you couldnt, you can make it work on other networks.

You can make it work on TMobile's network for calls and text messages. You can't make it be able to use their data service without paying for it. Neither can you do that with AT&T. You have to either pay for the data plan or just use it on WiFi. Those are your options.
 
If you know at&ts apn settings you can get that to work but you will also need to change the iemi number so the at&t doesnt add the correct plan on but i am pretty sure you can only do that on a iPhone 2G.
