Hi everyone! :)

I'm kind of a little nostalgic and wish to explore back "older" games and was wondering if anyone could tell me if PC mods for Command & Conquer Generals Zero:Hour could be applyed on Mac and if yes how ?
I'm thinking about this because basically, the files are the same: .INI, .BIG, etc. so there should be some possibility, right ?
Has anyone tried it or make it work ?

For instance, I really wish to update to the 1.06 unofficial patch to balance forces between campaigns, but it's an EXE file to install, although all files are separated in an extra folder.

Thanks for any answer.

I think you'd need to contact the creators of the mod you want. The only one I've ever been interested in (Shockwave, which, IMO, completes Zero Hour to the game EA should have released) had two completely different ways to install the mods on Mac + Windows.

Sorry I can't really help more.

I thought so. I'll do that and If I get any replies (some websites closed years ago !), I'll come back here to tell you.
Thanks for the reply anyway! ;)

If some have any other suggestions, please do leave a comment. Anything helps. :)

Well, until now, every single "moder"'s e-mail address don't exist anymore, so it's quite impossible to reach them...

YES YOU CAN! Si se puedes!

Hey- if you're interested in learning how to use PC mods for your ZH install (which can and DOES work, if you know how), then the best thing to do is email me thebarneyguardingjob{at}gmail.com, and i can send you a little instructions on how/what to do. I'd do it now, 'cept it's late at work and we're about to get some grub afore coming back to play!

Or, you can also go to Moddb.com and join and i can pm you there w/the info- I've helped many a ZH fan learn the joys of modding ZH- to the point where I ask ?'s very few no the answer to (not to brag or anything, but a lotta mac fans don't know you can actually load the mods- duh!) - they ARE the same game, except:

1) you can't use any mods that require you to connect to a server (IIRC only Vietnam Glory Obscured (latest v), and All-Stars are the only two) and install the files, as that would require you to have the PC version installed as well (on your BC'd mac, or on a another PC- in which case you'd have to install teh files, *then* copy over the relevant files to your Mac).

2) Some mods are better than others in performance- the newer the Mac, the better it can handle some of the more intense mods- like 'Untitled' or even Contra 005. My recommendations are the Advanced AI mod (just released improved v by AEI) and the 'n project' mod- these two guys *seriously* know what they're doing and they've tried to clean up the EA/Westwood code as they go along. The Advanced AI is brutal- we consider ourselves to be some pretty bad-ass players, but when you strip the crazy mod powers some mods give you, re-balance the game and correct the AI- you find out exactly *how* much of a piss-poor player you are if you rely solely on crazy-ass mod powers.

Which isn't to say that the crazy-ass mods aren't fun, too! Shockwave FTW!
BBQ time! Laters!
