Hi,
Looking to purchase an iPhone. I don't really care if I get a new phone number, but I do need it to be a local number for my area. How do I assure that, that happens. I don't need to get a number that will be long distance for non cell phone users in my area.

Thanks.

Frank

if you buy the phone in your home area they will give you a local area code. At the very worse it would just take you walking to your local ATT store and tell them to give you a local number.

If I remember correctly, I entered my area code and address into iTunes before I was assigned a number, which is local, even though I activated the phone while I was in another state.
