How to attach files (photos mostly) through web/ safari

I am trying to attach a jpg through the web interface of gmail instead of the apple email client but it isnt allowing me. Is this possible?

Sure it's possible...Compose mail>attach file

Without the apple mail client? I can't seem to attach a file using safari. You can get it to work in safari on the iPad? Or another browser?

No user accessible file system on iOS, so file uploading doesn't work like on computers.

I find it annoying as well, I wash there was a way around it. It would be cool if the "Browse" button behavior would open your photos for web uploading. Maybe there's an app for that? I don't know much about app development, but surely it's got to be possible to implement into a 3rd party browser?
