They say the initial backup with Time Machine will take a while and to use a fire wire or USB cable to get thru the first full backup. Afterwards, when I use the USB cable to connect the Lacie external drive to the Airport Extreme, Time Machine doesn't see the previous backups and so doesn't start an incremental but tries to start a new complete full backup.
I recall that I stumbled thru the first setup of the AE and was able to backup 1st with fire wire and then later wirelessly but Time Machine found the previous backup and started an incremental backup, like it should. But I modified the initial setup recently and can't seem to find the settings that initially allowed it to work.
I have the AE set up as a bridge connected via Ethernet to my ISP's DSL modem/router, but I don't think this was what I initially had. And I just upgraded to Snow Leopard. ANY SUGGESTIONS ANYONE? Also, is there a way to auto mount the external drive that is connected to the AE? I assume that Time Capsule's built in drive auto mounts on it's own when TM initiates the backup, correct? I appreciate any help here. Thanks.
