So my current situation is I have a drive attached to my Airport Extreme. I only use that drive for Time Machine with my laptop. I take my Macbook Pro with me to work and school and when I come home I have to manually reconnect to it every time. Is there a way once I get home and on my network that my Macbook Pro could automatically connect and then start my Time Machine backups without me doing anything?

Running Mavericks

Thanks for any help.

Just leave Time Machine on all the time. If the destination drive is not there, it just won't run.

Then use the free app Control Plane to mount the drive when you attach to the home network.
