I have a small network with 5 MacBook Pros and I'm wanting to know the best way to back the data up from each computer. Do I use a central backup point? The daily usable data on each computer must stay local to each MacBook because they are not always on the local network.

So I can have some sort of NAS on the network and all MacBooks can have their own separate backup to it? Every time I've set up a Time Machine backup, it wants to format the drive for its own backup, leaving me to believe that there can only be 1 backup per hard external hard drive..?

I have three Macs backup to one 2 TB hard drive connected via USB to a Time Capsule. Not sure how the NAS thing works but I can back with Time Machine to one hard drive using multiple Macs.
