how to back up my mailbox

Hi folks,

Can someone please tell me how i should back up my mailboxes I'd like to have a back up on my external drive in case something goes wrong i could still import all my mailboxes. Is archive mailbox the same as backing it up?


I still run OSX 10.6.8 and my mail is version 4.6.

The easiest approach is to use Time Machine to back up your entire volume.

In any event the mailboxes are stored int ~/Library/Mail ~/Library/Mail Downloads

You can also select within the mail app MailBox>Export Mailbox...

I don't use time machine.

There is no "export mailbox" ...
