Hi members,

Does someone know how to transfer iPhone text messages to Mac for backup? Those messages are very important for me so I need a copy on somewhere just in case of any damage of iPhone 6.

I searched on the forums and seems no valid solution that works in my case.

iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.1
Macbook Pro with OS X 10.10

There are programs that can do this (though I don't recall if it requires a jailbreak). I had one on my computer that saved all of my text messages into a browsable/editable database, and also allowed you to restore them to your phone.

I don't remember what it was called, but I can check tonight if you want, but you can read this guide on how to transfer messages from iPhone to Mac.

No need to jailbreak, there are apps (PC & Mac) that do this. Here's an article on Arstechnica that reviews 4 of them. It's a little old (2012), but most of these apps are still around:

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked the post that all apps are paid ones, is there any free alternative there?

There might be but honestly the investment to get your messages is truly small. Is this really an issue?

Big props for Phone View. I've had it a long time and they constantly update it to support new phones and iOS versions.

Just making backups in iTunes backs up text messages and in the case of a damage to the iPhone 6, you just transfer your backup to the replacement unit. This is as free as it gets.

If a true backup is what the OP needs, then they should buy one of these apps. They can extract all messages and media and allow you to truly back them up somewhere safe.

Time Machine backs up the backups so that's considered "somewhere safe." If the OP wants to be iPhone-free in being able to extract the messages, then yes they should purchase one of these apps.

I haven't done it in awhile but you can log into your mobile company email account, view messages, save to your computer.
