How to backup text messages to Mac?

How can I back up my iPhone text message to my Mac?
Can it be done without installing an App?

There's a way but, it's slow and a pain in the arse.

Copy and Paste into an email and email it to your mac.

You can sync it with iTunes, or in the iTunes window right click your device and click Backup in the menu that appears, or you can try the Mac application PhoneView.

PhoneView gets them straight off your iPhone. It get get other things then text messages as well.
