Was able to get my hands on a 2010 MacBook that has a very dirty bottom rubber plate, took some stickers off and was able to remove all that remained of them, but they left behind sticky residue. Tried cleaning with hot water and a cloth but this failed, I was just curious what people use to clean these bottoms. I think I'm going to try dish soap but wanted to see if there was a better method first.

I've also had success with using oil (since a lot of these adhesives are oil-based); I've used the generic lubricating oil found in hardware stores, but I've read that WD40 works too. I often also follow that up with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any residues.

Just be careful with WD-40. If it seeps under the rubber it can eat away at the adhesive and cause the rubber to peel.

I usually use a paper towel damp with rubbing alcohol to get rid of sticker residue. Lets you control where it goes easily and it evaporates quickly.

What I usually do is take the sticker or a piece of it I just peeled off and use the sticky side of it to get rid of the residue. As it’s already to late for it just try to find another sticker or sticky tape.
