I have a column that has name / phone and i'm trying to break out the two into two separate columns. I can't figure out a way to do this? I'm trying to figure out to use the line break to trigger the column separation but no luck? Help!

Here is an example of what i have in a column:

Joe Blow
888-888-8888

And I presume your goal is to have the name in one column, and the phone number in an adjacent column. That would be quite a trick!

All I can think of is to copy the column into an adjacent column and then edit every cell.

Yeah wanted to avoid that at all costs. :) had close to 6k rows!

I actually did a hack job in dreamweaver and got the results I needed. Sure there was an easier way with a text editor but it works

Thanks!

That's a good question. I know it can be done in excel with, what I think is called, text to columns. It splits a column by a chosen character, like a comma or a slash, and it breaks out the column using the character as a separator the same way opening up a CSV handles commas.
