Hi, I have a problem that I'm really stuck on! I have an MKV video file that I want to burn onto a DVD. My DVD player is ancient, so the movie needs to be burned in a format that it will be able to read. (Buying the movie on DVD is not an option. It doesn't exist on DVD.) I also have an AVI of the movie, but it's a smaller video (640 x 302 pixels). I'd rather go with the larger MKV (853 x 456 pixels) if possible.
I just want to burn this movie to a DVD with as little loss of quality as possible, and as inexpensively as possible. I don't have much money to spend on software right now. Please tell me how to do this! I've searched the forum but the threads I found weren't of much use to me. Is there a free/inexpensive program that can convert right from MKV to DVD? Or is there a way to convert the file, with little loss of quality, to a format that is easier to burn? What software should I use?
If it helps, I have a Macbook and the MKV has these specifications:
H.264, 720 x 456 (853 x 456), Millions
Text Subtitle (Perian), 853 x 456, Millions+
AC3, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
