How to cancel an accepted calendar even in calendar

I scheduled a meeting in outlook at work. My outlook calendar is linked in my iPhone calendar app. All I want ant to do is cancel the meeting but all I can find is delete. Does not say whether it just deletes from calendar or if it actually cancels the meeting. Will hitting delete do the same thing as cancel? Or am I just not seeing the right option
