What kind of video? Live stream you cannot save or camera input or game you play or ...?

ClipGrab works with many sites, VideoDownloadHelper works with others, Safari's Activity window (if still present in your version of Safari) also works well with some sites, and then there are screen recording tools like QuickTime X, iShowUHD, ScreenFlow, Camtasia and others.
