I turned off updates downloading in order not to spoil my SSD too much.
(I need to use mac primary for Xcode, my file-swamp is on my PC:))
Is it possible to configure another dir, especially on the external drive to download all updates I need instead of default download dir?
How to do that?

Do you mean Safari downloads? You can change that in this screen in Safari preferences.

Thank you for advice about Safari. I wanted to ask about it too).
But my question is about updates download. Where is the dir for updates?
For example, not only for app updates, but for system (as EFI updates).
Can I change default location for updates download to the external drive?

Ah gotcha... I don't know which folder they go in, and I have never seen any setting to change the folder. I do know they are not saved though. It looks like they go in a temp folder then are deleted after the update.

I would not be overly concerned about the small amount of write cycles this adds to the SSD though. Even with heavy usage, they last a long time. Good articles here and here.
