I moved some of the special folders in my home directory to my Dropbox following this tutorial and it works very well so far and also no complaints from any other app about not being able to finde those folders anymore thanks to the symbolic links.
The only thing I am missing now are the special icons in the sidebar which (as mentioned in the tutorial linked above) are now shown as generic folders. An app called cDock is mentioned which lets you create colorful icons in the sidebar, but I was actually just finde with the default ones, so I would prefer a way to just restore them or a way to customize them just like you can with folder or dock icons, so I can restore them myself or insert some that fit in there. No problem if system integrity protection needs to be disabled for that.
