Hi, I'm new to OSX, and I'm trying to change the pitch of my output sound by semitones so i can play different toned songs with my guitar.

I'm trying to do this without creating new song files for the pitched songs, so I need it to be real time pitch shifting.

Is there any way of doing that?

Thanks!

Amazing Slow Downer will do exactly what you want.

That software can change the speed (tempo) without changing the pitch of a song, or will also allow you to change the pitch, without changing the tempo.
As far as I understand, it can only convert music files to another pitch which is not what I want, I want a real time all output pitch shift.

So, now I realize that I don't understand your first post...

Why would you want to change the pitch of your guitar?
And, what does that have to do with your Mac?
Or, what exactly do you want to accomplish - give an example?

I mentioned Amazing Slow Downer, because I assumed that you want to play along with music (and the music would not always be at the pitch that you want.)
And, the ASD can change both pitch and tempo, which is the point of that software.

OK, from scratch.

There are down tuned songs, and I want to use my mac to pitch shift them up so I can play them with my guitar(my guitar is not connected to my mac), but I also use tab softwares(like Guitar pro), So I would really want my whole output audio to be pitch shifted and not only the music I play from a specific file or cd.

I used to have that option when I had my PC with Realtek sound card or Gigabyte motherboard that came with EasyTune, and it had Karaoke mode that shifted pitch by semitones, which is exactly what I need.

Sorry for me being unclear, Thank you for helping!

You can use soundflower and audio hijack pro with a free real time pitch shifting plug in.

route audio from itunes and tab software into soundflower then the output of that into Audio hijack pro. Stick a pitch shifter in the effects section of audio hijack and you're good to go.
