I have tried to change the download folder icon but can't seem to do it. I have candy bar and it doesn't seem to work. I also tried to cut and past a icon in the info area for the downloads folder. I have logged off and restarted 2 or 3 times and it is the only icon I can't change. I have a mbp 15". It is only 3 days old and running leopard. Thanks.

I have candybar and it worked to change all the other icons. I just can't change the download folder.
Why not just use the copy and past method in the Get Info box. That's how I changed my Downloads folder.
Yea i have restarted a few times. Inside of finder it looks like the new icon. I removed it from the dock and draged the one from finder to the dock and it changes back to the original when it gets into the dock.
Oh! In the dock, it looks like the front file (either most recent/by name etc.), just add the file you want it to look like into the downloads folder

If its the Dock icon you're trying to change then I say don't bother. Stacks has done a quality job of making that task pretty much impossible. I like stacks, but just find that method really really annoying.
yea if I put the icon I want as a file in the download folder and make it first by name it works but I thought that with Candybar I could change the actual folder icon.
Yes, but Stacks don't show the icon of the folder, no matter if you change it or not...
I'm not sure if this is what you mean. I did it to my dock, it works great!

That worked great. Not exactly what I was wanting to change the icon to but it's 100% better then whatever the top files is in the download folder.
