How to change the resolution of photos under iOS 10.2?

Hello, I have an iPhone 6s+. From the internet, I read that although users can change the resolutions of video taking under iOS 10, they cannot change the resolutions of the photo taking under iOS 10. Is that really true? What is the default resolution of the photos then?
