How to check ESN with broken screen?

Want to Craigslist trade my Macbook for a iPhone 4 and 4S + $200 cash. Both phones have cracked screens, how do I get the ESN number if unable to navigate to settings?

You can look on the sim tray but sim trays can be swapped easily so be careful.

Why not just plug them into a computer and look at it on iTunes? Or just take it into the carrier's store.
