How to check out a used MacBook?

Hi
Thanks to your help I was able to find a used mid 2014 MacBook Pro that should be what I need.

Is there a way to check it out to make sure all is well before buying. A systems check?

I don't know of any diagnostic tool to check the Macbook but I recommend bringing a Bluetooth device, headphones, and a USB key to test the ports.

On your own, you can run Apple Diagnostics via holding the 'D' key at startup

If you are able to go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider, you can ask they run MRI, or Mac Resource Inspector, for more detailed results. If you are considering a 15-inch, you can ask they run MRI with the Video Switching Test, or VST, to stress-test the dGPU.

make sure there is no iCloud account logged in

Test the ports, test the keys and track pad, inspect the screen for any issues, check the battery stats, make sure the charger is a legit Apple charger...
