MP 1,1-5,1 How to choose Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT card for Mac Pro 2008?

Hello there,

I’m trying to buy this card for my 2008 Mac Pro desktop, however, it seems there are lots of versions for this card available in market now, by googling, I found the following comment:

Mac Pro (Early 2008)

  • ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (part number 630-9191 or 630-9897)*
Does it mean I can only choose the card with either 630-9191 or 630-9897 printed there?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Why? It's a failure prone card that is 14 years old by now. Unless you wanna run Leopard, you shouldn't buy one.

If you want an AppleOEM GPU, get a HD 5770 or HD 5870 from mid-2010/mid-2012 Mac Pros. Even a GT120 from an early-2009 will be more reliable than a 8800GT.
