I want to keep my MBP looking new and avoid the greasy keyboard without ruining the keyboard keys. What is the official way of doing this that does not cause discoloration or mutated keyboards from long-term cleaning?

It isn't all finder oils that make the keys shiny. Over time your finger prints will sand down the keys until they become shiny. Once this happens, they will always be shiny.
