I use carbon copy to back mac HD.
How can I do a clean install and then restall my programs from backup?
Having a problem with iPhoto and aperture displaying large image on external monitor.
Apple support wants to do this.
I don't want to hunt down all my programs etc

You could do a fresh install from your OS X disc. Then download carbon copy and it probably has a feature allowing you to use your backup. Or use time machine and when you insert your OS X disc you can choose to install your backup.

after clean install use migration assistant and set the source to wherever the carbon copy exists.

I have a boot camp partition too.
I need to restore or migrate my info, programs etc. so I am not sure which method to use.
Do I have to erase the entire HD or just my main HD partition with the SL on it..?

how good is the migration utility? I have heard some say that it's better to reinstall applications it may not work 100%?
