I have a 2017 MBP (13 inch, 2 ports) under warranty. I would like hear your recommendations on how to clean stuck/sticky keys. Apple recommended I either pay them or pay their 3rd party partners.

They advised me against the DIY method.

Backstory:
A couple weeks ago, I spilled coke on my keyboard. I immediately mopped up the liquid and used as a combo of wet naps and rubbing alcohol to clean as much as I could. Luckily the laptop was fine. A week later, the heat has caused a cluster of keys to become sticky/stuck. My affected keys are X to V to Space Bar and Command.

I'm not sure of what I should do. There's a few DIY articles online that may or may not be relevant to my keys (I'm not sure). I've also read some comments of some people removing keys and breaking them or having challenges replacing them.

Your help is very appreciated.

I've used this method here:
several times to fix sticky keys and it has always worked extremely well and only takes a few seconds. However, I would be hesitant to use this method to remove the spacebar since the spacebar mechanism is much more complex.

Thanks Ashton.

Good news is it seems the space bar sorted itself out... for now.

I'm may try the video method for the regular keys.

Do you happen to know if the top function keys are like the regular keys, or complicated like the space bar (I watched some horrific videos regarding it).

I'd assume they would have the same mechanism as the regular keys but I've never tried taking them off since I have the Touch Bar version. Good luck fixing your keyboard!

I called a local 3rd party authorized service technician (at the advice of Apple), and their quote is to replace the top case which will cost $300 in parts + $90 in labour (CDN). o_O

I'm going to walk into an Apple Store on Weds to get their quote as well... :(
