How to clone hd

I have a couple of laptops and i was wandering how i could clone my ibook clamshell hd onto them? I have a firewire 400 to firewire 400 cable but im not sure how i can clone the hd onto them without removing the Hd's

Any ideas?

You should be able to connect by Firewire and boot into Target Disk mode

Then you should be able to use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper

At least I think it should work... I have never tried it

Are the notebooks also PPC macs that can run off the installation that's on the clamshell?

If so, you can use target disk mode with SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner to do the cloning. What you do is bring the other macs up in target disk mode (hold T down at startup -- see below).

This will mount the other laptop as a drive on the clamshell iBook. Then run SD or CCC and this will make a bootable clone.
